I had decided that thing thing was not of this realm, an incorporeal being. It moved far and near, it was below us, then behind us, and all this time it made no noise but for this clank. No crunch of snow, no twigs snapping, no leaves rustling. It was the Blair Witch. That's why I decided to just lay back down. You know if you've seen the movie, if you run, you just wind up back where you started, and I wasn't going to run down that mountain just to run up it again to the point of beginning. It was dark and frozen out there. If I just lay here, maybe it will get frustrated and go haunt somebody more given to flight.
